2017 Review

Happy New Year to you all.

What a fabulous year 2017 was for Cake Daydreams.

Here are just a few of my highlights to 2017.

January started with a bang and  I was asked to be a preferred supplier at Clearwell Castle.  Clearwell is a fairtyale castle wedding venue.  The type you would draw as a child.  I have created so many cakes for couples at the Castle in 2017 and i am always touched when the wonderful wedding co-ordinators recommend me.

April saw me step a little out of my comfort zone and create a hand painted gold leaf cake for Sarah & George's big day at Elmore Court.  I painted the central tier with flowers after liaising with their florist.  I was thrilled with the outcome and can't wait to do more hand painted designs.

May, June and July were incredibly busy and June was the turn of Sarah & Tom.  Sarah & Tom married at Eastington Park.   Sarah is from New Zealand and her family and friends had travelled the globe to be with them for their important day (which spanned 3 days).  The day arrived and it must have been one of the hottest of the year !  I  love this photo of Sarah's face when she cut her cake

August was a crazy month but can't go by without mention to Charlotte  who trusted me to create her cake without any direction from her.  She simply told me her colours, and gave me an idea of cake styles she liked.  The pressure was on to create her a cake she would love, she had no idea until after her ceremony what it was going to look like.  I am glad to say she was delighted !

and the lovely Kate and Liam who had a semi naked cake with drip detail delivered and set up at Priston Mill.  They were thrilled and I am lucky enough to be creating a cake for her Liams sister this year.

September rolled around and with it a cake which i had been working on throughout the summer.  Georgie & Ryans cake had over 60 sugar roses, plus tiny filler flowers.  We delivered it to the Hewletts, a beautiful venue  with views overlooking Cheltenham.

I was also delighted to be asked to create the wedding cake for Lisa & Joe.  Lisa is one of the Wedding Managers at Eastington Park, so to be asked to create her cake was huge compliment, as i know she deals with many talented cake designers day to day.  Lisa wanted a 'wow' cake,  I think we achieved that.  The cake is one of the first things you see when you walk into Eastington Park, and the staircase is a perfect backdrop.

October  didn't quieten down, and I was thrilled to be asked by Elmore Court to join their team of preferred suppliers.  Elmore is an exquisite Grade II listed mansion on the outskirts of Cheltenham.  I love the house,  the tiny details such as the servants bells in the corridors and stained glass windows are so stunning.  Then head out to the Gillyflower for dinner and dancing leaves you speechless.

Great photo of Natalie & Simon in front of Elmore.

In November I was thrilled to be awarded Regional Highly Commended Cake Designer at the 2018 Wedding Industry Awards.  The Wedding Industry Awards are one of the highest accolades for Wedding Suppliers and they are voted by your past couples, alongside your work being judged by industry professionals.  My goal was to become a regional finalist, so to be awarded this made my year.

and finally that brings us to December.  I had a lovely week away in the Sun in December, but still created 6 wedding cakes with my last one of the year being on New Years Eve.

This navy watercolour and goldleaf cake was created for Becky & James.  I woke up to snow and my first thought was that i needed to get the cake to Elmore Court.  I enlisted the help of my husband to drive and we negotiated snowy country lanes to deliver this beauty which suited the couple perfectly.

And thats a wrap to  a fabulous fabulous 2017.

I created over 60 wedding cakes for some truly beautiful couples, I can't even start to imagine how many eggs i used ! and how many late nights were spent in the kitchen but I appreciate every day how lucky I am to do a job which I love so much.    If I haven't included your wedding please don't be offended I really could write forever about all the wonderful couples i meet.

Thank you and looking forward to an amazing 2018 filled with gorgeous couples and gorgeous cakes.

Until next time... take care xx
