When Should I order my Wedding Cake ?

So you have your sparkly ring and all you want to do is plan your big day.  We would suggest that one of the first things you need to book after setting your date is your venue.  Often the venue sets the scene for the 'look' of the wedding. You may be looking at Barns, or Country Houses, Marquees or local hotels, whichever you choose will depend on how you picture your day.

Once your venue is booked it is a good idea to secure bookings of the 'big' things - such as your photographer.  Photographers get booked years in advance and if you like the style of a particular one it is definitely worth meeting with them as soon as possible.

After your key components are in place you can start to look at the pretty things for your day and this includes your cake.

When we sit down and design your cake it is helpful if you have a few ideas.  We will ask you about your day so we can get a feel for the style of cake you want, we will ask you how many you need your cake to feed so we can work out the best size cake for you, and it is helpful if when you come to visit us you can bring ideas of cakes you like, samples of colours or maybe your pinterest board.

Booking your cake a year in advance is not unheard of, good cake designers get booked up early and personally I prefer not to take on too many cakes each week to ensure that the standard of our cakes remains high.  So look at your 'to do' list, is the wedding cake ticked off the list yet... if not what are you waiting for .... contact us to get a tasting in the diary soon.

Until next time... take care xx
